Thomas Devaux
Thomas Devaux, born in 1980, lives and works in Paris. He holds a Master’s degree in the Performing Arts Section of Nanterre. His work is represented by several galleries.
His work is part of prestigious private and public collections, such as the BNF, Louis Roederer, Huawei, LVMH, De Galbert or the Collection des Musées d’Orléans. He won the Talent Grant in 2011. His work was then exhibited in numerous countries like South Korea, China, France, Belgium, USA, England, Holland, Russia and Hong Kong, Serbia, Azerbaijan…
Thomas Devaux is a visual artist and photographer and the author of several complex series in which both the founding values and current developments in photography come into play.
His photographic work, which is closely related to painting and drawing, allows him to pursue his research on the themes of the sacred and the profane, which can be found in his early work.
Thomas Devaux is currently developing a set entitled Cet Obscur Objet du Désir, which is divided into three series of photographs: The Shoppers, Rayons, Totems and an installation. In it, he questions the new transcendencies of the contemporary world. That Obscure Object of Desire appears as a plastic story through which the viewers become aware of their own consumption.

他的作品獲著名的公共收藏與私人藏家如:法國國家圖書館 Bibliotèque National de France、路易侯德爾 Louis Roederer、華為、LVMH 路易威登集團合作、紅屋– 安東尼.加貝勒基金會 Maison Rouge、 Fondation Antonie de Galbert 以及奧爾良美術館Musée des beaux-arts d’Orléans等收藏。
2011年獲得人才獎 The Talent Grant。隨後，他的作品於許多國家及城市中展出，如韓國、中國、比利時、美國、英國、荷蘭、俄羅斯、香港、塞爾維亞、亞塞拜然等等。
2013年獲亞爾國際攝影節 The Rencontres d’Arles 邀請擔任座談攝影師。
Thomas是一位視覺藝術家、攝影師以及複合系列創作者，在這些創作系列中，Thomas 皆以攝影為創作之基礎，探索與開發這個媒材的各種可能性。
他早期的作品以肖像為主，呈現手法如同繪畫般，探討有關於神聖與褻瀆相關的題材。近幾年 他以『Cet Obscur Objet du Désir慾望的晦澀對象』為主題，開發三個子系列–購物者The Shopper、射線 Rayon、雙向色、圖騰Totem 和裝置。透過這個系列對於現今消費世代提出反 問，『Cet Obscur Objet du Désir慾望的晦澀對象 』有如故事般，觀眾能透過作品中超市裡的商 品抽象呈現去檢視自己受消費時代的價值觀影響和心理層面的互動。
